The Derry & District Youth FA is a voluntary organisation, created in 1973 in the height of the troubles, when the city was experiencing serious rioting and community unrest on a daily basis, to attempt to keep youth out of trouble by organising more meaningful and safe activities for and help develop our kids  into responsible and caring citizens in years to come.

The organisation has gone from strength to strength and not only caters for over 2500 young players on a weekly basis but has developed some wonderful young players, many of whom have gone on to international recognition and earn a good living from the game.

It has also been responsible for organising the highly successful and internationally popular Foyle Cup - an event which is organised in July of each year and attracts team entries in excess of 450 teams annually - teams of the calibre of Wolves, Sheffield United, Altrincham, Norwich City, Slata (Sweden) FD Suomi (Norway), AS Dammartin (France), Everton America (USA), Tampa Bay Rowdies (USA), First Choice Soccer, GPS FC Bayern, Hamilton Academy, Hearts F.C, Partick Thistle, Hibernian FC, Dundee Utd,  and Dallas F.C (USA), Landsdowne Boys, (USA), participated in the competition during recent years. More and more professional clubs are recognising what the Foyle Cup offers - as are USA entrants!!
